Daily Maintenance

The longevity of a tractor depends on maintenance before and after use each day.

  • Checking the oil level while the engine is cool is crucial. The machine can’t run without oil or on very low oil. Ensure it's on the recommended mark.
  • Check the water level in the tractor. If the water level doesn’t have a recommended mark refer to the owner's manual to see when to refill.
  • Clean the tractor’s air cleaner and refill it with dirt-free oil. Air filters work to stop fuel pollution from damaging your tractor.
  • Check for damaged or loose parts in and on your tractor. Regularly check parts like pins, nuts, and test bolts for any need to tighten them.
  • Check the fuel filter. Most tractors come with a water separator in the fuel filter. This separator saves your tractor’s engine from harm. You should maintain a fuel filter regularly and appropriately.
  • Check for leakage. If you find any leakage in any part of your tractor, you should get it repaired as soon as possible.

Weekly Maintenance

Weekly maintenance includes things that don't affect your tractor daily but can eventually affect your tractor’s performance over time.

  • The fuel tank needs to be filled. It is the main process in the maintenance of a tractor.
  • The air pressure of tires should be checked weekly to let you know if your tires need air or not.
  • Belts need to be cleaned. Most parts and other accessories are dependent on belts. They transfer mechanical power to the engine for smooth operation. These accessories can’t do their jobs properly without a clean and efficient belt.
  • Check the oil filter. It protects the tractor engine from dirty oil which can damage your engine.
  • Check the gearbox. Gears play an extremely important role in tractor function. Ensure that fluid levels are correct and the fluid is clean, there are no leaks, seals don’t have excessive wear and tear, and there is no other apparent damage.
  • Grease tractor parts. Regular greasing can protect your tractor’s parts from rust and damage.

Annual Maintenance

Annual maintenance includes things that don’t need to be checked regularly but will still benefit the tractor’s longevity.

  • Change the diesel filter. Proper diesel filters make your tractor more productive and fuel-efficient.
  • Hydraulic lines need to be replaced. To ensure you purchase the correct one, take the hose that you will be replacing.
  • The oil tank needs to be checked so that you protect the tractor’s parts from damages and breakdowns, mainly to your engine.
  • Check the overall condition of the hydraulic system. This includes filers, caps, fluids, screens, hoses, etc. Clogged filters can cause implements to lose power, so they should be intermittently replaced per the manufacturer maintenance schedule.
